Marcelo condecora Pró-Maior com Ordem de Mérito

O Presidente da República entregou, esta quinta-feira, ao mestre José Festas, presidente da Associação Pró-Maior Segurança dos Homens do Mar, a condecoração do título de membro honorário Ordem de Mérito, num gesto em que pretendeu homenagear  “quem tem servido esta terra, esta gente e o país”.

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa acrescentou que “Portugal está grato à instituição não apenas nas horas fáceis mas nas horas muito difíceis e merece ser reconhecida, agradecido e condecorado”. “Entrego à instituição e quem vos representa, pelo seu labor a dedicação pessoal e das sua famílias”.

Por sua vez José Festas disse ser um dia de “enorme alegria ao receber o reconhecimento e em nome de todos os pescadores expresso o muito obrigado por reconhecer a Pró-Maior”.

Para o mestre que lidera a associação, “esta condecoração acresce ainda mais responsabilidade, uma vez que no futuro temos que continuar a ser dignos da honra que hoje nos dá”.

A cerimónia realizada na sede da Pró-Maior, localizada no porto de pesca da Póvoa, contou com a presença dos autarcas da Póvoa de Varzim e Vila do Conde e entidades civis e militares dos dois concelhos.
