72.9 por cento das receitas da Póvoa provêm do próprio município. Para se ter uma noção, o município mais bem colocado, Lisboa, tem uma independência financeira de 91.7 por cento. O último lugar da lista pertence a Corvo, com 4.1 por cento.
Voltando à Póvoa de Varzim: nos últimos 11 anos, o valor mais baixo deste indicador foi registado em 2009, com 53.2%. O mais alto foi em 2007, com precisamente 73%.
