O Rio Ave começa o campeonato da I Liga no seu estádio, quando a 6 de agosto receber o Belenenses, ditou o sorteio da I Liga que teve lugar ao final da tarde de sexta-feira, no Terminal de Cruzeiros do Porto de Leixões, em Matosinhos.

Quanto à receção dos clubes grandes, o Rio Ave recebe os três grandes na 1ª volta do campeonato, defrontando o Benfica a 27 de agosto, na 4ª Jornada, o FC Porto na 6ª Jornada a 17 de setembro e o Sporting na 10ª Jornada a 29 de outubro.
